2020 Campobello Island Whale Rescue Donation

We all have the power within us to make a difference. To do something that makes a difference in someone else’s lives. Or to work toward the changes we want to see in the world.

For me, those changes include saving whales and and keeping straws out of sea turtle noses across the world.

Those changes start with what we’re doing close to home.

At the end of the summer this year I was able to take another trip to Campobello Island where I presented Captain Mackie Greene of the Campobello Whale Rescue Team with our THIRD $1000 cheque since August 2019.

That’s $3000 to date made possible simply because a girl—who should have been born a mermaid—chose to follow her dreams, make waves, and use that success to make a difference however she could.

And I couldn’t have done it without all of you.

In 2020, you chose to shop local by choosing Sandy Toes Shop. You helped not only keep a small business alive—your kindness and support also contributed to this latest donation to the Campobello Whale Rescue team.

The Campobello Whale Rescue Team (CWRT) is a volunteer organization that consists primarily of fishermen, a biologist and other volunteers.

Mackie and his team are licensed and permitted by Fisheries and Oceans Canada to conduct whale disentanglement and release operations in the Bay of Fundy and adjacent waters off Nova Scotia as well as in the Gulf of St. Lawrence.

Yes, you read that right.

They’re helping rescue whales in distress, right here in our local waters.

So thank you from the bottom of my mermaid heart, for your continuing support that allows us to make donations to this incredible organization year after year.

We’re looking forward to a holiday season filled with new and already beloved Sandy Toes apparel, connecting with you all online and working toward our goal of supporting the Campobello Whale Rescue Team again in 2021.
